The following day, Curly and Boysie are sitting in the window staring gloomily outside.

"Will it never stop raining?" Boysie says.

Curly laughs. "I expect it takes a long time for half an ocean to fall out of the sky."

At that moment Dad opens the door and walks into the room. "I've just been listening to the news," he says. "Someone claims to have seen a spaceship flying over a mountain. There are some strange people about. Spaceships indeed!"

"They didn't see any flying umbrellas did they?" Curly calls out.

"Any what?" Dad asks.

"Nothing Dad."
